It has always been on my bucket list visiting New York City and at the tail end of 2013 I was luck enough to be able to spent a week wandering the amazing city which certainly lived up to the name of a concrete jungle.
Visiting in December the temperatures were freezing literally -5 was the coldest the temperature dropped to but it didn’t stop my partner and I exploring and taking all the sites in. Along with the cold the sheer size of the city is the thing that stood out most! Being from Sydney we optimistically thought with a little help from the yellow cabs and subway we could make our way around on foot… we mostly did however there were a few times that a couple of blocks which seemed walkable on the map made us late for tourist planes booked in.
On a personal note it was an exciting time with me proposing to my very patient long time partner … now fiancé the time and place I proposed was one of those moments we had underestimated the distance lol.
What a place it certainly is the city that doesn’t sleep! some of the hi lights were visiting the world famous photography store B&H Photo, the Rockefeller Center view, helicopter tour over the city scape and pizza slices and giant pretzels. I would love to return one day… hopefully in a work capacity 😉
Below are some of my pics from the experience but they hardly do this amazing place justice.
