As a Sydney-based food and beverage photographer, I’m incredibly excited to share two recent press features that have brought national attention to my work. Being recognised in prominent Australian publications not only validates the creative energy I put into every image, but also highlights the power of visual storytelling in food and drink photography.

With years of experience capturing everything from conceptual beverage imagery to richly styled food scenes, I’m constantly exploring new ways to push the boundaries of food and drink photography in Australia. These recent opportunities have been a fantastic way to connect with a wider audience and showcase the depth of my creative process.

Featured in Australian Camera Magazine – April 2025 Edition

The first feature came in the April 2025 issue of Australian Camera Magazine, a leading publication in the photography world. I was honoured to have a double-page spread dedicated to my work as a food and beverage photographer, with a focus on one of my favourite conceptual drink images—“Mr Manhattan.”

This image was shortlisted in the 2025 World Food Photography Awards, and it’s a personal project that blends abstract design with refined beverage storytelling. The magazine feature dove into my creative process, technical setup, and how I approach beverage photography differently—balancing both precision and emotional impact. The recognition of Mr Manhattan in such a respected photography publication has been a major highlight in my journey as a professional Australian drink photographer.

Featured in The Australian Weekend Magazine – 24 May 2025

The second feature appeared in the Australian Weekend Magazine’s much-anticipated Hot 50 Restaurants and Food Issue, published on 24 May 2025. I had the pleasure of contributing to a beautifully written piece by Ross Bilton for the “Heart of the Nation” column, discussing the art of crafting the perfect food image.

The article opened with a powerful quote about the sensory power of food photography:

“We eat first with our eyes, the old saying goes. Looking at this image by food photographer Ben Cole, perhaps you’d agree. Aren’t you already imagining how the sweet figs and honey will play off the salty, savoury punch of the blue cheese and prosciutto? Aren’t you imagining all those sensuous textures, framed by the crunch of the cracker?”

This image was originally captured in 2024 in collaboration with the incredibly talented food stylist Sharon Kennedy. The photograph received international acclaim, winning the Production Paradise Spotlight Awards and placing second in the 2024 World Food Photography Awards. It’s incredibly rewarding to see it continuing to resonate with both the public and media nearly a year later.

What makes this recognition even more meaningful is how it brings attention to the often-overlooked artistry and intention behind high-end food photography in Australia. Every element—light, texture, composition, colour—is carefully considered to bring out not just the beauty of the ingredients, but the emotional experience of enjoying them.

Why These Features Matter for Food and Drink Brands

Being featured in these respected publications helps shine a spotlight on the value of working with a photographer who understands both the technical execution and storytelling needed in commercial food and drink photography. Whether you’re a hospitality group, food producer, beverage brand, or restaurant in Australia, compelling photography plays a huge role in how customers perceive and engage with your offering.

These editorial moments also reinforce my belief that the best Sydney food and drink photography happens when there’s room for both collaboration and creativity—where stylists, producers, and photographers bring together their skills to craft something that’s more than just visually appealing. It becomes aspirational, emotional, and unforgettable.

Looking Ahead

As we move into the second half of 2025, I’m excited about the future of food and beverage photography in Australia—and the growing recognition of visual content as a critical part of brand identity in the culinary space. From working with local artisan producers to leading international drink brands, my aim remains the same: to create imagery that stops people scrolling, sparks curiosity, and makes them hungry to learn more.

If you’re looking for an award-winning Australian food and beverage photographer based in Sydney, whether for editorial work, advertising campaigns, or creative brand storytelling, I’d love to hear from you.
