As one of Australia’s leading advertising photographers specialising in product photography and still life photography I work on a lot of projects helping bring everyday items to life and on a recent occasion I was recently brought on by the fantastic team at KitchenAid Australia to creatively explore ideas and deliver photography and creative direction for this year’s Mother’s day campaign with the tag line Make Memories. I worked closely with the team through the development stage, production and execution to bring a truly authentic campaign that was showcased across Australia and even making its way into internation markets. I have been lucky enough to have been working with the KitchenAid team for a number of years now with the team giving me great trust in bring their projects to life, every campaign we seem to be pushing creative ideas further, it’s been exciting to be part of the journey.
For this project media needed to work over multiple formats and to execute a range of motion and still outputs. We proposed the idea of a tiled execution with each product having its own unique scene across a base of 4 colours. Each scene was captured in stills and motion outputs so that they could be used in a mix of motion boards and print needs. These single images could then be used in various tiled layouts to fit landscape and portrait formats. There was a secondary talent component that worked alongside the product images, this is where the authenticity came in. Talent was the KitchenAid staff and their family’s with accompanied recipes from the team, you can’t get any authentic than that.
From an execution point we created a level horizon line across cross all of the product scenes to allow alignment, it was a bit of a challenge especially working across motion and stills but I think the end results speak for itself.
It was such a lovely project to help bring to life, helping tell the story of the KitchenAid team and family’s! It really did push my skill set capturing motion and still photography and testing my creative skills in still life , product and portrait photography.
